The short version
You don’t need an account. What you type is saved in your own browser and is not sent to our servers. Google Analytics runs only if you accept it, and we never sell your data.
Free Resume Maker AI (freeresumemakerai.com) is a free resume builder, cover letter editor and PDF importer that runs in your browser. The resume and letter content you enter, the PDF you import and the files you export are all handled on your device.
What we collect
We do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details to use the site, and we do not run user accounts. We do not receive the content of your resume or cover letter.
Like most websites, the server that delivers our pages may keep ordinary technical logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to look at what you write.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located and what device they use. See “Third-party services” below.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply.
What stays on your device
- Your drafts. Resume and cover letter content, your chosen template, colour, typeface and layout settings are saved in your browser’s local storage so they are there when you come back.
- Imported PDFs. When you import a resume, the file is read by code running in your browser. It is not uploaded to a server.
- Exports. PDF and Word files are generated on your device.
Because this data lives only in your browser, we cannot recover it for you. Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, removes it.
Third-party services
To display the site’s typefaces, your browser requests font files from Google Fonts. That request is made by your browser directly, so Google may receive technical information such as your IP address. See Google’s own privacy policy for how it treats that information.
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to measure traffic and improve the site. It collects usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type, and uses cookies or similar identifiers to do so. Google Analytics does not receive the content of your resume or cover letter, which never leaves your browser. Analytics is off until you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer, or block it in your browser settings.
We do not use advertising networks. If that changes, we will update this page first.
Your control
Because your content is stored on your device, you are already in control of it. You can edit or delete it in the editor, or remove everything at once by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, write to us and we will remove it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over personal data, such as access or deletion. Contact us and we will help with any request that applies.
Children
The service is intended for people looking for work and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be easy to spot, not buried.
